Scientists and scientific institutions around the world are invited to present and nominate the most qualified candidates for the 2019 L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Awards, until 13 July 2018.

Scholarship Description:

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization. It seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO’s programs contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals defined in Agenda 2030, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015.

 

Applications Deadline: July 13, 2018
Course Level: Awards are available for female researchers.
Study Subject: For the first time, the 2019 Awards will designate five outstanding researchers in the Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science.
Scholarship Award: Each of the Award Laureates will receive €100,000.
Nationality: Scientists and scientific institutions around the world are eligible.
Number of Scholarships: Up to five scholarships are available.
Scholarship can be taken in Paris, France

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

Eligible Countries: Awards are available for applicants each working in one of the following regions: Africa and the Arab States, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America & North America. Scientists and scientific institutions around the world are eligible.

Entrance Requirements: The candidate must

  1. Be recognized for her personal scientific excellence among the international scientific community
  2. Be actively involved in scientific research
  3. Be involved in any field of the Physical Sciences, Mathematics or Computer Science
  4. Not be directly or personally involved in the For Women in Science programme, as a jury member or otherwise, in any country.

English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

How to Apply: In order to nominate a candidate, please follow the registration procedure on the For Women in Science platform accessible. From the website, you will be able to upload all the necessary documents in order to submit the nomination. Please note that nomination files must be submitted by midnight on 13 July 2018 (France GMT/UTC + 2h). Only completed nominations received through the platform by this deadline will be considered.
You may nominate several candidates or re-nominate a candidate you presented in the past.

To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships, you must:

•  postgraduate only – have achieved a minimum 2.1 or equivalent in your honours degree and must meet the English and academic entry requirements for your course.

•  undergraduate only – have achieved or exceeded the English and academic entry requirements for the course

•   have an offer for a full-time taught undergraduate or postgraduate course at Sheffield Hallam University.

•  be self-funding your studies

•  be able to pay any additional fees your course may require, for example field trips

To apply for a Transform Together Scholarship, you must have received an offer for a full-time taught course at Sheffield Hallam University for the relevant year.  If you have not yet applied for a course, please visit the online prospectus to find a course and apply. When you have accepted an offer to study on a course, you can apply for a scholarship online by the deadline – 31 May 2018 for September 2018 entry or 1 November 2018 for January 2019 entry.

Eligibility:

To be considered for a fee remission scholarship you must:

• be a citizen of a country other than Australia and New Zealand and not a permanent resident of Australia;

•  have received an unconditional offer for an undergraduate course;

•  have achieved excellent final year school results, such as:

    • – 4 A-grades in the GCE A Levels
    • – an ATAR of 99.9 in the Australian Year 12 program,
    • – overall 98% in an approved Foundation program
    • – an International Baccalaureate (IB) score of 44;

• not have  previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a year 12 program);

Application instructions:

You do not need to submit an application for this scholarship. All eligible students who have received an unconditional offer for admission to an undergraduate degree will automatically be considered. The deadline for admissions is late December for Semester 1 and 31 May for Semester 2.
